  • Description: The INTERMAR Icebreaker module consists of a large number of taks and activities that involve using languages the user may never have studied. The purpose of the Icebreaker module is to allow the learner to discard 'phobias' of unknown languages. The aim is to try to use these languages just as a seaferer might have to do when working in an international environment with passengers on board.

  • Guidelines: Download the Icebreaker course materials and board the yacht to voyage round the Mediterranean where you will have to plan a route, buy provisions, learn sailboat terms, understand directions, choose hotels and introduce yourself, all in an unfamiliar language! The 'backpacking' aspect of this module is especially attractive to the young learner or cadet.
